I started at Raff Printing in June of 2005. Having 30 years experience in the printing industry, I have worked in all phases of production. Solid technical understanding of processes helps me communicate clearly when customers seek explanations about why things happen.
I think it's exciting to see so many things in printing moving away from physical toward digital methods, but so many of the "outdated" processes had a more hands-on approach that I kind of miss. There was a satisfaction to doing things like dot-etching and duotone tweaking that have been sacrificed in the name of progress, economy and quicker turnarounds. I suppose it boils down to doing whatever it takes to make the customer happy as opposed to my old-fashioned notion of printing being an artisan craft.
My wife of 18 years, Nancy, and I have a daughter, Nicole.
